Membership Policy

Our membership policy invites all individuals who align with our mission and vision to become members.

Purpose 

The purpose of this Membership Policy is to provide clear guidelines and procedures for the membership process at Lapis Social and Cultural Association Inc. ("Lapis" or the "Association"). This policy aims to ensure that membership is open, transparent, and inclusive, and that members are engaged and supportive of the Association's mission and values as per Article 3 of the Association’s bylaws. 

Eligibility 

Membership in Lapis is open to individuals who are interested in supporting the Association's mission and participating in its social and cultural activities. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to be eligible for membership. 

Membership Categories 

Lapis offers the following membership categories: 

1. Family Membership: Open to families (husband and wife). Its 2x Regular memberships with 2nd membership at 50% discount for families 
2. Regular Membership: Open to any individual who supports the Association's mission and pays the required membership fee. 
3. Student Membership: Open to any individual who is currently enrolled as a full-time student and supports the Association's mission. Student members are eligible for a reduced membership fee upon providing proof of enrollment. 

Membership Fees 

Membership fees are due annually in advance. The fees for each membership category are as follows: 

1. Family Member: $100 per year 
2. Regular Member: $60 per year 
3. Student Member: $40 per year 

Membership Application and Renewal Process 

1. New members can apply for membership by completing an application form and submitting it along with the required membership fee. The application will be reviewed by the Membership Committee, and the applicant will be notified of the decision within 7 business days. 
2. Membership renewal is due annually on the anniversary of the member's joining date. Members will receive a renewal notice at least 30 days prior to the due date, and must submit the required membership fee to maintain their membership status. 
3. Membership may be terminated for non-payment of fees after a 60-days grace period from the due date. Members with terminated memberships can reapply for membership by submitting a new application and membership fee. 

Membership Benefits 

Members of the association are entitled to the following benefits: 

1. Access to members-only events and activities. 
2. Discounts on programs, workshops, and merchandise. 
3. Voting rights at the Association's General Assembly and any other meetings where members are asked to vote. 
4. Opportunities to serve on committees or the Board of Directors. 
5. Access to member-exclusive resources and networking opportunities. 

Member Responsibilities 

Members of the association are expected to: 

1. Uphold the mission and values of the Association. 
2. Adhere to the Association's bylaws, policies, and procedures. 
3. Actively participate in the Association's programs and events. 
4. Pay the required membership fees in a timely manner. 

Amendments 

This Membership Policy may be amended by the Board of Directors as needed. Any changes to the policy will be communicated to the membership in a timely manner. 

Effective Date 

This Membership Policy is effective as of May 12, 2023.
